If per country limit of 7% stays, how much relief would it bring in terms of
priority dates for India/China born individuals?
I do not think there shall be any significant positive movement in Priority dates. Even if annual numbers go to 290K from 140K and dependents are excluded. It is about 4 times meaning if earlier we had 10K for India including sposes meaning 5K effectively, now it will be appx 20K effectively!
Think of number of applicants from India and China and think of the flood coming when all backlog is cleared! I dont think we should expect big jump in priority dates.
Am I getting too pessimistic?

Me too getting worried about my wife's status...
Good thing is she had this issue when transferring H1 Visa when she was out of status for few months and she had to go to home country for stamping (explaining IO the situation where she was out of status) and came back on status...and she was on status till date.
One more thing is , the status will be counted from the last date of entry to US . If this is the case, I do not have any problem on my wife's status.
If your wife has maintained her status since she last visted US, may be going for H1 stamping and coming back to US, this should not matter..and more over she filed 485 as your dependent.
This is what my understanding is with respect to maintaing status....Let me know if this is not correct

I got it for missing Medicals for both me and my wife.
I would trust anytime my lawyer than USCIS.
here is what they did.
Wrong address even though filed for AR11 online and received Soft LUD online. This is one year old address and they didn't even put APT# in my old address. God's Grace I received it by mail fowarding without APT#
Didn't update my online status. Still showing Pending and no LUD or soft LUD
I know my lawyer put in G28 and medicals both when he was mailing it as I was the one who finally inspected and mailed the package.
Some other folks also got for Medicals. Looks to me a routine to get rid off pending cases or preadjudicate.

You should not have a problem. But you will get an RFE and then you need to complete. But good if you can get medical examination completed, because almost everyone would have put that shot in India. Convey your doctor to say yes and complete it.

it means you don't have any experience in US politics, your relative is right election year is going to play some rule in immigration politics, democrats are pitching of hispanic votes they will try to do everything possible to get their vote, but main concern here is American public are against increase in any form of immigration. so odds are itz going to be counter productive for us as our case always depends on illegals.

One of my friends got his passport back in 6th week.
I would say, be persistent in contacting them. They are not very good at getting back to people - no accountability. Send emails and fax explaining your situation ....twice a day until they reply back.

My current passport is expiring in Jun 07. I have applied for passport renewal at Indian Embassy (Washington D.C.) in 3rd week of Jan 07 via courier. I may have to travel urgently to India by end of this month. Just wondering if anyone recently got their passport renewed at DC and what was the duration. It will help me to take the decision about departure date. Unfortunately DC is 5 hours drive from where I live. I am not sure even if take a day off and drive to DC to collect the passport they will even give it to me on the same day. Multiple attempts to contact DC office via phone/email were not helpful. No one picks the phone and their voice mail system is always full. Any advise on what I should to do know status of my passport renewal would be appreciated.

Hi My Application alongwith my wife and daughter reached NSC on July 2 and signed by J. Barett. Till date (Oct 30 - 2007) I have not received any information. Its over 4 months and whenever I call USCIS they are asking me to wait. I think my application is lost.
My lawyer had sent 25 applications in one packet 22 of them got receipts except the three for me, my wife and daughter.
Will I be able to refile? Lawyer has Fedex Receipt....

I disagree. We need to know why the extension was denied and then assess the risk of delay, or even denial of the H-4 at a consul. If she leaves the US and there is a problem at the consul, you could be in for a very long separation.

We applied for her AP renewal on July 1st 2009 and on the status page, it says approval notice sent on July 16th. At the same time I also see a soft LUD on her I-485. The new date is 07/15/2009 but no status update. Are these two events connected or is someone actually looking at her I-485? Note, she is not current per priority date, however Texas processing times have been updated recently.
